Bettye Miles

Bettye Miles

Bettye Joyce (Stone) Miles, 82, of Evansville, Ind., passed away on Friday, December 22, 2017, at St. Vincent Medical Center.

Bettye was born in Fort Branch, Ind., on June 27, 1935, to the late Frank and Willena Dayvolt (DeLong) Stone. In 1944, Bettye moved to Evansville, Ind., where she lived for the remainder of her life. She graduated from Benjamin Bosse High School with the Class of 1953, belonged to American Legion Auxiliary Post 265 and VWF Auxiliary Post 2953. Bettye was an Associate Member with the Fraternal Order of Police and an Honorary Sheriff of Vanderburgh County. She worked for the Vanderburgh County Auditors Office before retiring in 2000 from the Department of Weights and Measures. Bettye loved family, life, friends and playing cards. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. 

Bettye is survived by her daughters, Lisa Rebstock (Rock), of Evansville, Ind., Lori Dillback, of Evansville, Ind., and Launa Mitchell (Bruce), of Evansville, Ind.; son, Lance Miles, of Evansville, Ind.; sisters, Shirley Overton, of Fort Branch, Ind., and Sherri Angell, of Braselton, Ga,; brother, John Dayvolt, of Evansville, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Bettye was preceded in death by her husband, W. Scott Miles; daughter, Barbara Thompson; son, Ronnie Miles; sister, Evelyn Phillips; brothers, Jerry Stone and Vernon Dayvolt; and her parents.

Helen C. (Ficker) Wuerth, 86, of Evansville, IN, passed away December 14, 2017, at her home. She was born on September 23, 1931, in Evansville, IN, to the late Joseph Ficker and Barbara (Waninger) Ficker.

Helen worked as a bookkeeper at the Evansville Store, DeJongs, and Hill’s Department Store. She was a founding member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, a scout leader, and a member of the PTA. Helen was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, James Wuerth; daughters, Cathy (Ron) McConnell, Lisa (Scott) VanMeter, Karen (Glenn) Fischer; sons, Tom Wuerth, Scott (Amanda) Wuerth; grandchildren, Chris (Christina) Clodfelter, Jarrod McConnell, Cameron Wuerth, Lauren (Cory) Kissel, Tyler VanMeter, Emily (Jason) Hancock, John and Adam Fischer, Tyler Stotlar, Grant and Eli Wuerth; great-grandchildren, Claire Clodfelter, Caroline and Hudson Hancock; nieces and nephews.

Virginia “Ginger” Tracey

Virginia “Ginger” Tracey

Virginia “Ginger” Tracey, 58, of Newburgh, IN, went to be with her Lord, Saturday, November 25, 2017, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital.

Ginger was born April 10, 1959, the daughter of late Jesse Simmers and Mary D. DeLoach. Ginger graduated from Hialeah High School and attended South Eastern Academy.  She was a member of Christian Fellowship Church . Ginger worked 13 years as a Real Estate Agent with ERA and then on to work for Goebel Realty.

Ginger is survived by her husband, Michael Tracey, daughters, Lauren E. and Leisa M. Tracey; and son, Christopher M. Tracey.  She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Linda Lee Simmers.

Robert Savage, Jr.

Robert “Bob” K. Savage, Jr., age 75, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 21, 2017.

Bob was born on March 19, 1942, to the late Robert K. Savage, Sr. and the late Hazel Savage. He graduated from North High School in 1960. Bob retired from the Evansville Courier & Press in 1997 after 30+ years. He loved vacationing in Florida. His grandkids and great-grandson were the light of his life, and he enjoyed spoiling them. 

He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Doloris Savage (Sherrill); daughters, Becky Zoch (Darryl) and Robin Savage; grandchildren, Kyle Hudson (Stephani) and Emily Hudson; great grandchild, Kamdyn Hudson; sister, Terry Best; and sister-in-law, Betty Sherrill. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ricky Savage.

William Steven Bennett

William Steven Bennett

William Steven “Steve” Bennett, age 64, of Henderson, KY, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2017, at his home under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice.  Steve was born and raised in Henderson, KY and was a 1971 graduate of Henderson County High School. He worked for Dana Corporation for over 37 years. He was a Union member of the United Steel Workers of America, and a member of Zion Baptist Church. Steve attended the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally for the last 25 years, he owned a Harley Davidson and enjoyed riding. He loved NASCAR and his favorite driver was Sterling Marlin. He was most comfortable in his blue jeans and always wore Harley t-shirts. Steve loved his grandchildren, his family, and fishing at a place he fondly named “Hook Leg Lake”.

Matthew Timmel

Matthew Timmel

Matthew Charles Timmel, 78, passed away peacefully with his wife and dogs by his side, Thursday, November 9, 2017, at his home. He was born February 14, 1939, in Evansville, to Curtis and Carman (Sensmeier) Timmel.

Matt was a true community servant. He retired from Evansville Fire Department after 33 years of service in 1994. He started his career as a Firefighter, Paramedic, Captain and then retired as District Chief. Matt was instrumental in starting the Special Ops Division at EFD which included rope and water rescue, and the HAZMAT teams. Matt joined Newburgh Volunteer Fire Department upon his retirement in 1996, serving 17 years as a Firefighter, Captain and Assistant Chief until 2015. 

Matt had a love for the Ohio River. He was an avid fisherman and boater. Matt owned Osborn Boat and Motors and worked for East Side Marine in fiberglass boat repair after his retirement. He was a founding member of Evansville Thunder on the Ohio and served as Race Pit Chairman for 30 years. He was a member of the Newburgh Parks Advisory Board and Parks Board for many years and was instrumental in caring for the Newburgh river front boat dock.  Matt was the life of the party and shared his contagious laugh with his family and friends any chance he got. 

He was preceded in death by his parents. Matt is survived by his wife of 31 years, Tammy (Roland) Timmel; daughters, Jodie Buckley (Stan), Julie Nicholson; three grandchildren, Grant, Alexa, and Logan. 

Alan Woebkenberg

Alan Woebkenberg

Alan L. Woebkenberg, 69, of Evansville, Ind., passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at Linda E. White Hospice House.

Alan was born on October 28, 1948, to the late Martin “Matt” and Alma (Hoge) Woebkenberg and was raised in Ferdinand, Ind. He graduated from St. Ferdinand Catholic High School and was a member of the class of 1966. Alan earned his bachelors and masters in education from Indiana State. He spent his entire 40 year teaching career at Highland Elementary School. Alan was a former member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and St. Theresa Catholic Church and currently a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church. He enjoyed traveling, gardening and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Alan always enjoyed seeing his former students.

Alan is survived by his wife of 47 years, Alice (Van Winkle) Woebkenberg, of Evansville, Ind., whom he married on August 16, 1970, at St. Meinrad Catholic Church; his sons, Jason Woebkenberg (Robin), of Evansville, Ind., Jon Woebkenberg (Jamie), of Evansville, Ind.; sisters, Pat Hollinden (Fred), of Jasper, Ind., Sarah Wilmes, of Ferdinand, Ind., Pearl Peters, of Evanston, Ind.; brother, Tom Woebkenberg (Pat), of Wellston, Ohio; grandchildren, Abbey, Jacob, Braden, Kylee and Drew; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Van Winkle, of Ferdinand, Ind., Maxine Boehman, of Jasper, Ind., and Faye Hagedorn, of Santa Claus, Ind.; and Wanda Flamion, of Zionsville, Ind.; and brother-in-law, Harold Van Winkle, of Ferdinand, Ind. 

Alan was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Lois Ann Van Winkle; and brothers-in-law, Dennis Wilmes, Kenny Peters, Jim Van Winkle, John Van Winkle, Ed Hagedorn, Charles Boehman and Allen Flamion.

Wanda Vickers

Wanda Joyce (Creekmur) Vickers, 82, of Evansville, Ind., passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at St. Vincent Medical Center from metastatic breast cancer.

Wanda was born in Mount Vernon, Ind., on April 1, 1935, to the late George Chester and Marie (Shephard) Creekmur. She was a 1953 graduate of Mount Vernon High School. Wanda was a seamstress, knitted countless scarves, hats and shawls for United Caring Services and other great causes. She supported her children in a multitude of activities, was an active member of the Paradise Homemakers Club, enjoyed baking, square dancing and shared lots of great times camping with friends. Wanda will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Wanda is survived by her husband, Charles Vickers; daughter, Dr. Jacqueline E. Pauls (Andrew); son, Eric Stahl (Deborah); stepdaughter, Angie Rhoades (Tim); stepson, Tony Vickers; sister, Betty Deputy; grandchildren, Nick VanHooser, Brandi Stahl, Jarrett Stahl, Jeremy Kirsch, and Brandon Kirsch (Liz); and four great-grandchildren.  Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; and half-sister, Virginia “Jenny” Sue Knight.

Jennifer L. Schmidt, 53, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2017, in Evansville, Ind. She was born the daughter of Martha and the late Jimmy Wilkerson in Nashville, Tenn., on December 20, 1963.  Jennifer was a loving wife, mother, daughter and aunt through and through. She was part of a loving family and will be greatly missed by many. 

Jennifer is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Mike Schmidt; son, Corey J. (Jenny) Schmidt; mother, Martha Wilkerson-Isaac; siblings, Jason Wilkerson and Meredith Bean; and many loving nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. 
Jennifer was preceded in death by her father Jimmy. 

 Gunthild Gruber

Gunthild L. (Lassman) Gruber, 76, of Mt. Vernon, Ind., passed away, September 9, 2017, at Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville. She was born December 1, 1940, in Czechoslovakia to Carl and Irma (Schreiber) Lassman.

Gundi owned and operated Gundi’s Restaurant for 44 years in Mt. Vernon. She very much enjoyed working along side her mother, Mutti in the kitchen.  She was preceded in death by her parents; and grandmother, Priska Schreiber. 

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Herbie Gruber; son, Jimmy (Diana) Gruber, of Mt. Vernon; daughter, Mischi (Nick) West, of Mt. Vernon; grandchildren, Olivia Johnson, Ciara (John) Schmidt, Skylar West, John Gruber and Eric Gregory; and six great-grandchildren. 

Jeanne Humphrey

Jeanne A. (Runyon) Humphrey, 65, passed away Tuesday Aug. 22, 2017 at her residence. She was born in Nashville, TN in 1952 to the late Jack and Bonnie (Frase) Runyon. 

Jeanne taught for 6 years in the Mt. Vernon School Corp. and retired from the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corp. after 37 years. She taught at Hebron Elementary the last 26 years where she started the Hebron Hoppers Jump Rope Program where over a 1,000 children participated. Jeanne is a former member of Oak Meadow Country Club, current Eaglette at Eagle Valley Golf Course, and member of the Lady Spitfires Golf League. Recently the Lady Spitfires at Thunderbolt Golf Course renamed the Lady’s Club Championship the Jeanne Humphreys Club Championship. She was the former President of the Evansville Firefighter Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of the Daughters of the Nile #41 Isis Temple.  She is survived by her husband, Mike of 44 years; son, Ryan (Stephanie) Humphrey of Kure Beach, N.C.; daughter, Dana (Kerry) Dubuque of Evansville, IN; brother, Jimmy (Karen) Runyon and Tim (Stacey) Runyon; sister, Leslie Runyon; and nieces and nephews. 
Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents.

Chae ok Rollison

Chae Rollison

Chae ok Rollison, 67, of Newburgh, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2017 in Newburgh, Indiana surrounded by her family. Chae lived with humor and determination as she battled cancer for over 20 years. She loved and lived every moment, never letting cancer break her enthusiasm for life. Chae was always graceful to the end, when God called her home. Her spirit will live on forever through the strength, fearlessness and courage in which she lived. 

Chae owned and operated several hair salons for over 40 years, retiring from CK Hair Fashion in 2010. She was a member of the Korean Church of Evansville. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, playing poker and spending time with her family and friends.  Chae will live on through her husband, Lorenz “Larry” Rollison; daughter Kim Berning Gutzwiller and her husband Joey, daughter Tamny Berning Costello and her husband Shannon and daughter Tina Berning Logsdon and her husband, Greg; grandchildren Caleb Wagner, Ashtin Berning, Boden Costello, Tegan Costello, Sunnie Berning, Alex Griffin, and Mattie Griffin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sea Hoon Bang and Jong Soon Cha.

Paul L. Head 75 of Winslow, IN entered rest on Wednesday July 26,2017 at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, IN. He was born on March 4,1942 in Stanley, KY to Virgil & Margaret (Fischer) Head.  Paul worked construction for 30 years for Local 561 Laborer Union, former owner of Winslow Café, drove the Pike Dubois Book Mobile for several years which he was the last driver and worked for 19 years at Walmart (Lawn and Garden Center) in Jasper. Paul was preceded in death by parents, brother George Head and sister Audrey Moeller.  Survived by wife of 51 years AnnaBelle (Martin) Head, Children Phyllis (Bruce) Hill of Corydon, IN and Paul L.(Michele) Head Jr. of  Mackey, IN. Grandchildren, Anna (Jason) Hulfachor, Colton, Kyle and Caleb Head, Elayna and Makaylah Brumfield. Charla D. (McDaniel) Haley, 54 of Lynnville, Indiana passed away on July 25, 2017 at her home.
She was born on March 26, 1963 in Evansville, Indiana to the late Wilford and Shannon (Julian) McDaniel.

Charla graduated from Boonville High School and USI. She was a dedicated teacher for 30 years at Lynnville, Elberfeld, and Castle Elementary Schools. She coached volleyball and cheerleading. She was an active member of ADK sorority and St. Matthew Church of Lynnville. Charla loved spending time with family and friends, traveling, the beach, reading, teaching, and Gone with the Wind. Her favorite Saturday past time was babysitting her grand-daughter, Madelyn.

Charla is survived by her husband of 17 years, Kent Haley; daughter, Dakota Marks and her husband, Jacob; sister, Shelly McDaniel; grand-daughter, Madelyn Marks; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Randall L. Garrett

Randall Garrett

Randall L. Garrett, 76, of Princeton, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh. He was born June 14, 1941 in Johnson, IN to the late Lewis Martin Garrett and Dorothy (Sharp) Garrett and had been a lifetime resident of Gibson County. He retired in 2001 from the former Whirlpool Corp. in Evansville where he had worked for 39 years. He was secretary of the Princeton Bowling Assn. for 40 years. He was the only person to ever serve two terms as president of the Indiana Bowling Assn. He was a member of the Hall of Fame of both the local and state bowling associations and bowled on leagues for many many years in Princeton. He was a member of the B.P.O. Elks No. 634 in Princeton. Randy is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sharon Sue (Shanks) Garrett of Princeton; 3 sisters, Verneta Coplen of Fort Branch, Voris Brakmeier of Princeton and Shirleen Funkhouser of Osceola, IN; 2 brothers, Clifton Garrett (Betty) of Newburgh and Anthony Garrett (Jean) of Evansville; 4 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; friends and in-laws, Dave Shanks of Evansville, Thomas Shanks of Evansville, Van Shanks of Patoka, Jan Dill of Princeton, Patricia House of Evansville and Linda Cuzzort of Owensboro, KY; also several special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Portia Garrett and a son, Monty Garrett. 

Herbert ‘Herb’ L. Cox

Herb Cox

Herbert “Herb” L. Cox, 84, of Evansville, Ind., passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 3, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family.  Herb was born November 28, 1932, to the late Earl and Essie, and is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Ira, Earl, and Lester; and his sister, Vanna Zimmerman.

Herb was a Class of 1951 Bosse High School graduate, and served in the Korean war. He was employed 38 years with Mead Johnson/Bristol Myers. Herb and Joyce loved to travel and saw all 50 states and all seven continents. He was generous, had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to serve. Unlike his brother Lester, he did not have his Cox temper under control.  Herb had a weakness for cookies and candy, and was a favorite with the women of Leisure Living, who indulged his sweet tooth.  Most important to Herb was his love for Jesus Christ. He was a sinner saved by grace, and wanted everyone to know that Jesus is the Truth, the Light and the Way, and no one gets to the Father except thru Him. He and Joyce were active participants in Christian Fellowship Church.

Herb was the cherished husband of Joyce (Haas) Cox, and beloved father of Leanne and Jim Cox (Wendy). Along with his wife and children, Herb is survived by his sister, Esther Burkhardt and his good friend, Ed Marting, and many nieces and nephews who adored him.

Kenneth Luke Bingemer, 80 of Newburgh, IN passed away July 25, 2017 at his residence.  He was born July 22, 1937 in Henderson Co., KY to Andrew Elliott and Beatrice (Crowley) Bingemer.  He was an U.S. Army Veteran and a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.  He is survived by his wife Faye Bingemer, three children; Sherri Bingemer Hayes and her husband Mike of Newburgh, Dana Schoenbachler and her huband Glenn, Ken Bingemer and his wife Angie of Sparta, TN, two sisters; Dorothy Hillyard of Cairo, Alice Eblen of Jackson, TN, one brother; Garland Bingemer of Henderson, eight grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Robin McCarty, age 61, passed away July 20, 2017, in Evansville, IN. Robin was born the daughter of JoAnn and Benjamin Ritchie on March 14, 1956 in Xenia, OH.

Robin loved traveling (especially to the beach), cooking special meals for her family, and everything Christmas. She worked proudly at Mead Johnson for over 25 years. Robin was brave and determined both in her service to our country and as a leader in her family.

Robin is survived by her devoted husband Mark of 37 years; beloved children Christopher (Jessi) McCarty and Elizabeth (Stephen) Sutherland; grandchildren Kaitlyn and Annabelle; siblings Patsy (Jack) DeCaire, Ruth Ritchie, Jeff Ritchie, Lisa (Tom) Fulton, and Tracy (Curtis) Armstrong; brother-in-law Keith (Kim) McCarty; sister-in-law Jill (Kevin) Burns; godchild Laurie (Brad) VanBibber; special family member Debbie (Larry) Clemons; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by both of her parents.

Patricia McReynolds

Patricia McReynolds, 63, passed away on June 20, 2017, at Braun’s Nursing Home in Evansville, Ind., with her sisters by her side. She was born on April 19, 1954, in Evansville, Ind., the oldest daughter of Wade and Helen Jane (Barrett) McReynolds. 

Patty graduated from Fort Branch High School in 1972, then attended Oakland City University and graduated in 1976 with a Bachelor’s of Arts degree. She continued her education at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master’s of Church Music Degree in 1982. She was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Princeton and served as the Minister of Music and Education. Patty served as choral director, youth and senior ministries in the church. She also wrote General Baptist Sunday School lessons for the Stenson Press in Poplar Bluff, Mo. 

Patty is survived by her two sisters, Tammie (Greg) Bohnert of Jasper, Ind., and Mary (Charlie) Ahlf of Evansville, Ind.; and nephews, Vaughn Robert (Meagan) Ahlf and Matt (Monica) Bohnert; and nieces, Lauren and Kristen Bohnert. Also surviving is her loving fur baby, Ripley. She was preceded in death by her parents. 

William D. Smith III

William D. “Bill” Smith, III, affectionately known as “Shifty” to his high school friends and “Bearmeat” to his coworkers at GE/Sabic, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2017, at Deaconess Hospital. Bill fought the good fight with the help of Dr. Sheryl Ziegler and the entire staff at OHA. Thank you to all of you.  Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Ginnie Smith of Cynthiana.

Surviving are his wife, Vicki Smith; three children, Mark Rexing, Julie (Gabe) Zirkelbach and Billy (Sami) Smith; seven grandchildren, Ashley, Jenna, Lauren, Blake, Aaron, Rylie and Grayson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jim and Sandy Schili and Mike and Marianne Schili; and his three favorite nieces, Jennifer, Annie and Laura. Jason Martin and his family are an added blessing to our family. Bill is also survived by a brother, Bob Boyer.

Mary E. (Ireland) Tate, 76, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at St. Vincent Hospital. She was born October 29, 1940, in Louisville, Ky., to the late Denzil and Esther Boone.

She retired from Old National Bank after 30 years of service. Mary was a member of VFW 1114 Ladies Auxiliary, St. Matthew’s United Church of Christ and past member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ. She loved her family, animals, gardening and traveling to Panama City Beach. She had a strong belief in God.  Mary was preceded in death by her parents; and a nephew, David Corissom. She is survived by husband, Dennis L. Tate; children, Dustin G. Ireland, Michelle M. (Scott) Dunn and Andrew R. (Jennifer) Ireland; 11 grandchildren, Dalton, Jesse, Emily, Drew, Madeline, Nick, Lilly and Tony Ireland and Lucas, Kiley, and Brady Dunn; and best friend, Brenda Keister.

Alvin Lee Gish

Alvin Lee Gish, 68, of St. Wendel, Indiana, born to Oney Lee and Helen Geneva (Howton) Gish on November 6, 1948, in St. Wendel, Indiana, passed away Friday, June 2, 2017, after a courageous 2 year battle with cancer at his home surrounded by loved ones.

He graduated from North Posey High School in 1966 and was employed with CSX for 35 years retiring in November 2008. He owned the JJ’s Restaurant in Cynthiana, Indiana and was a member of: CSX Safety Board, NRA and the St. Wendel Athletic Club. He enjoyed playing clabber, gardening, hunting, trap shooting, boating and fishing and coached baseball and softball. Judith S. Eifler, 74, of Boonville, Indiana, went to be with the Lord at 8:14 A.M. on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at home with friends and family by her side.

Judy was born on February 13, 1943 in Winslow, IN, daughter of Orvis and Esybil Bee. After moving to Boonville, IN and graduating from Boonville High School, Judy worked at Interstate Finance of Boonville, IN and married James “Jim” Eifler on April 19, 1962. Judy and Jim were married 52 wonderful years before Jim went home to be with the Lord on February 15, 2015.

Judy enjoyed being a mother and housewife. She loved to spend time at home reading, drawing, and playing music. Most of all, Judy enjoyed sharing her faith and love of the Lord with those around her. Judy had a passion to witness to others and to help to lead people to the Lord. She loved to study and learn about her Lord Jesus Christ. Judy attended Calvary Baptist Church in Boonville, IN and also enjoyed fellowshipping with friends and family at Tennyson General Baptist Church in Tennyson, IN. She was a prayer warrior whose shining testimony will be missed greatly. Judy’s battle with cancer showed her true strength and faith in God. Through her struggle with the disease, she never wavered in her faith and hoped to be strong for those around her.

Pat passed away at her residence on May 21, 2017 after a two year battle with ovarian cancer.
Pat was born on October 28, 1947 in Louisville, KY., to the late D.M. “Dutch” and Amelia (Benz) Nash. She was a graduate of English High School (65′) and went on to get her Master’s degree from Indiana University in Elementary Education.

She taught for 28 years at Chrisney Elementary as the kindergarten teacher. Many adults can tie their shoes and zip their coats thanks to her. Pat was a member of Chrisney Baptist Church, 40 year member of Chrisney Euchre card club, domino girls, and an avid couch cheerleader for I.U. Basketball. “Go I.U.” she loved shopping, gardening, the beach, online games, but most of all being Grammie to her 5 grandchildren: Cole, Mackenzie, Tyler, Amelia, and Chloe.

Pat is survived by her loving husband, Mike Tower, whom she married June 9, 1968, 2 daughters; Michele Carter and her husband Darren of Austin, MN., Laura Scouten and her husband Gage of Newburgh, IN., sister Carolyn Huffman and her husband John of Bloomington, IN., her best friend Karen Gasaway, and many loving in-laws, “out-laws”, nieces and nephews.

Sandra L. Kemp, 75, of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away at 12:55 p.m. Sunday, May 7, 2017, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana, surrounded by her loving family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She enjoyed homemaking and yard work and adored her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Helen Walker; and two brothers, Bill Walker and Steve Walker.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Thomas W. Kemp; two children, Mike Kemp and his wife, Karen, of Henderson, Kentucky, and Kathy Goldsberry and her husband, Chad, of Henderson, Kentucky; one sister, Janice Breedlove of Eddyville, Kentucky; one brother, Dave Walker of Evansville, Indiana; three grandchildren, Taylor Kemp, Jake Willoughby, and Josh Willoughby; one great-granddaughter, Jade James; and nieces and nephews.

Pamela L. Ridens, 70, of Fort Branch, passed away peacefully at River Oaks Health Campus in Princeton. She was born Sept. 14, 1946 in Haubstadt, to Norman and Catherine (Will) Hoefling. Pam was retired from the Fort Branch Community School, where she worked for 25 years as a librarian. She graduated from the Fort Branch High School in 1965. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Fort Branch.

Pam is survived by her husband John Ridens of Fort Branch; three children, John (Nicole) Ridens of Frankfort, Jeff (Jennifer) Ridens of Haubstadt, Jay (Jennifer) Ridens of Greenwood; a brother and three sisters, Kenneth (Joy) Hoefling of Fort Branch, Denise (Jack) Kramer of Princeton, Deborah (Joe) Trigo of Downingtown, Pennsylvania, Marla (Phil) Scott of Owensville. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Grant, J.T., Chelsey, Sidney, Cole, Grace, Braxton,Casey, Zachary and Brayden.

Elvin “Lee” Adkison, 72, of Evansville, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017, at his home surrounded by his loved ones after a long and well fought battle. He was born February 20, 1945, in Evansville. He was a member of Fairlawn United Methodist Church and served in the United States Air Force as a medic. Throughout the years, he was a member of Abate, Rogers Rangers, and Pair-a-dice Cruisers. Lee retired from the City of Evansville, but continued working by using his talent as an artist and blacksmith.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Allean and Lee Adkison; and brothers, Ray McBride and Jim Addison. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Donna; daughters, Danielle (Kent) Wilhite, Adrienne (Eric) Tanner, and Briana Adkison; grandsons, Declan, Luke, and Conor; brother, Doug (Pam) Adkson; and other family members, Sherry Adkison, Jeb Anfield, and Christian Daniel.

Kenneth A. Briody “Papaw Hoot”, 76, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Monday, April 3, 2017.

Kenneth was born in Evansville, Indiana on January 5, 1941 to the late Russell and Dorothy (McNeal) Briody. After graduating from Central High School in 1959, Kenneth worked at Imperial Desk as an assembly line worker before beginning a 13 year career with Wabash Plastic as a warehouse supervisor. He retired in 2009. Kenneth enjoyed deep sea fishing, vacationing at the Gulf Shores, and using the computer to listen to music and work on genealogy.  Kenneth is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda (Phelps) Briody of Evansville, IN; daughter, Kelly Buchanan of Evansville, IN; son, David Briody (Robin) of Evansville, IN; sister, Judy Jourdan of Evansville, IN; brother, Russ Briody (Judy) of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, McKenna (Eric), Morgan (Jordan), Keith, Gabrielle, and Emmalynn; great-grandchildren, Kaydence, Eli, Adalynn, Zaiden, Jace, and Fox. Kenneth was preceded in death by his son, Denis K. Tina was also known as “Bootsie”, her smile and loving personality drew her to you, she was loved by so many, and if you were a friend you were part of her family. She was a motorcycle enthusiast, participating in benefits for cancer, such as Buds for Boobs, Alzheimer’s, Toys for Tots, Autism and Humane Society, which her love for animals was very admirable. Tina was a graduate of Castle High School and Indiana Business College. She was employed with DXPE.

Shirley Jean “Mimi” (Bowers) Griggs, 81, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2017 surrounded by her family. Shirley was born in Evansville, Indiana on August 13, 1935 to the late Ed and Myrtle Mae (Schmahlenberger) Bowers. She was a graduate of Central High School and retired from GenCorp. Shirley enjoyed playing Bingo, cooking and spending time with her family. She loved her dogs and cats and was the ultimate giver. Shirley, known as “Mimi” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren was a loving mother of 3 children, a proud grandmother and blessed with 10 beautiful great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.

Linda Sue Hodgson, 74, of Crossville, Illinois, died Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro, Illinois. She was born September 8, 1942, in Grayville, Illinois, the daughter of Samuel Casey Hallam and Bernita Pearl (Jackson) Hallam. She was married to William J. “Joe” Hodgson and he preceded her in death on January 21, 2000.

Linda was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church in Crossville. She was an in-home caregiver, and a cat lover.

Survivors include son William J. “Bill” (Cindy) Hodgson; daughter Susan (Brian) Blaylock, all of Crossville; grandchildren Samantha (Alex) Youngblood and Tabitha (Bobby) Newman; great grandchildren Lexi Windle and Cole Youngblood.

Courtney Leigh Nelson, 32, of Elberfeld, loving and devoted mother and wife passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2017 after a courageous 14 month battle with cancer. She was born November 6, 1984 to Gregory A. and Kristina M. Barth. Courtney graduated from Tecumseh High School in 2003. While in high school she enjoyed playing basketball and volleyball. She graduated from Tri State Beauty College in 2005. At the time of Courtney’s death she was employed at Escape Salon in Newburgh, where she made many lifelong friends.  
Courtney is survived by her loving husband Shon W. Nelson II, they were married May 23, 2009. Together they have two sons Grant and Wyatt and their fur baby, Chip. Also surviving is her mother Kristie Barth of Elberfeld, sister, Wendy Isaacs (Jason) also of Elberfeld, grandmother, Bobbie J. Barth of Boonville, mother-in-law, Ronda Keethers (Joe) of Boonville, father-in-law, Shon Nelson of Oakland City, sister-in-law, Tasia Phillips of Evansville, nieces Addison and Madelyn Isaacs and Lili Young. She loved her nieces so much and spent many hours doting over them. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Ruth A. (Kleiman) Davis, age 75, of Evansville, passed away Monday, January 30, 2017, at her home surrounded by family. Ruth was born November 2, 1941, in Evansville, to the late Melvin and Anna Esther (Asher) Kleiman. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, quilting, sewing and traveling with family and friends. She was very proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved them all dearly.

Surviving Ruth are her husband of 58 years, Ted Davis; a daughter, Jada (John) Whitmer, of Evansville; two sons, Hubert (Jill) Davis, of Brookfield, Wis., and Brice (Debbie) Davis, of Newburgh; a sister, Barbara (Tom) Clinton, of Paducah, Ky.; three brothers, Jack (Liz) Kleiman, of Evansville, Kevin (Sharon) Kleiman, of Chandler, and Paul (Mona) Kleiman of Evansville; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Tina Marie Paff, 54, of Henderson, Ky., passed away on January 19, 2017, at her home after a three-year courageous battle with cancer.

Tina was preceded in death by her father, James “Moon” Mullins; and her brother, Gary Mullins. She was born to James and Dorothy Mullins, January 11, 1963, in Henderson, Ky. She was the youngest child to five older brothers. She was employed at Old National Bank for 14 years at the Hwy 60 E. branch, where she enjoyed her customers. Tina cherished the time spent taking care of her mother and her family. She was an avid UK Basketball fan and loved working in her yard. She was a Kentucky Colonel.
Survivors include her husband of 36 years, Fred Paff; son, Jonathan Paff of Owensboro, Ky.; mother, Dorothy Mullins; four brothers, Allen “Julio” Mullins, David “Radar” Mullins, Ronnie “Bones” Mullins and Susan Lane, Terry Mullins and wife Bobbie; sister-in-law, Pam Mullins; sister-in-heart, Kim Fowler, all of Henderson, Ky.; nieces and nephews.
